A-Z Challenge: The Matrix

"What is he doing?"

"He's beginning to believe."

The Matrix has me.  Since first viewing, I was totally hooked on this kung fu sci-fi mindf*&^ of a movie.  It is awesomeness cubed.  (NOTE:  That should not be taken as any reference toward awesomeness regarding the two sequels.  I reserve my extended praise for the first movie only.)

I don't know how many times I have seen this movie, and I don't care.  I will watch it again.  The Matrix is easily in my top 5 favorite movies of all time, genre be damned.  It may even be number 1, I'd need to go through some serious reflection to determine what movie could unseat it.  Star Wars, maybe, but I don't know...

Through this challenge I've been pontificating on my favorites, but what about you?  What's your favorite movie?  It doesn't have to start with "M."

I think everyone reserves their praise for the two sequels.

Agree: Matrix is/was awesome.

Favorite movie of mine: Rocky Horror Picture Show. The music is catchy, the makeup and costumes divine, but of course, whatever is IN it that originally spurred the audience participation. Can't put my finger on what that is, but for a movie that was relatively lame, it's got incredible legs.

My tastes are so eclectic - favourites include The Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs, Sliding Doors and The Wedding Singer.

I'm complicated!

Old Movie: Casablanca

Sci-Fi: 2001, A Space Odyssey

Thanks for the visit to my blog, Rick. I loved the first Matrix. The idea was the layered type that I like. What we see is NOT what we get.

Enjoying your series during the Challenge.

Beverly- I've only been to a theater to seethe Rocky Horror Picture Show once, and I had a blast. It's a cult phenomenon. I used to work in a restaurant and we would all sing "Time Warp" when we got really busy and stressed during the lunch rush. Somehow that made things better. Weird.

Annalisa- I love The Usual Suspects, if I didn't have a different U movie that I really, really like, it would be on my list. But there is one other U movie that floored me. And Reservoir Dogs will be mentioned in a coming post. I haven't seen Sliding Doors, but The Wedding Singer may be Adam Sandler's best movie.

DG- Casablanca is classic for a reason. I don't watch that many old movies, but I've seen and love that as well as Streetcar Named Desire and Citizen Cane. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I've never seen 2001 all the way through. I've seen most of it here and there. I'm a Stanley Kubric fan, I need to set the time aside to watch that sometime soon.

That movie and its bullet time revolutionized film making. Thought it was awesome. I enjoyed the sequels as well.

Loved the Matrix. Also cannot resist watching The Shawshank Redemption whenever it's on TV.

My all time favorite movie changes with my mood :) But my youngest so and I both agree the second Matrix movie was the best - for special effects anyways.
