And the Synopsis got Shredded!

So there was more to come:

This is one thing I learned about a synopsis: if you want to submit a synopsis but are limited to 400 words, and your synopsis is 850 words, you are better off to start over from scratch than to try and make cuts while hoping to retain any sense...

That was really interesting feedback...I think people got into it, which is good.

I'm glad I submitted, without a doubt. I haven't been able to find any writer's groups suitable to my genre here in central Ohio, so the online feedback is great.

Luckily most of the questions / concerns are addressed or moot in the MS.

Writing a synopsis is difficult. Limiting it to 400 words is next to impossible!

I think the synopsis is really close to where it needs to be. Mainly, it seems like you've witheld vital information in the synopsis that would be helpful to explain the story. I saw your previous version and you had more information there. But again, 400 words synopses are hard. I'll stick with my 1,000 words :)

I made a mistake in trying to take the 800 word version and cut it back to 400 words. If I want a 400 word version, I would be better off starting from 0 words and building up to it.

And even at 800 words, there's a lot that isn't mentioned.

Oh ho! So you're the author of Fate's Guardian. I read your synopsis on Evil Editor a while back.

I've made the exact kind of mistake with trying to cut a synopsis, so I really sympathize. Have to kick myself--JUST START THE WHOLE THING OVER. But a part of me keeps whining, No, I can just trim this...

Infamous last words!

Tara,

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you had a chance to read the extended synopsis posted on this blog, and found it to be better than the bare bones version I posted at EE's site...
